HP3
The Bell HP3 is the latest helmet developed by Bell Racing Formula 1 engineers and is currently used by top Formula 1 drivers. It is an evolution of the Racestar HP1, which was the very first "Advanced Helmet for Automotive Sport" in the world to meet the new FIA-8860 Standard, mandatory since July 1, 2004.
This standard is intended to improve overall helmet performance to suit the needs of Formula 1. For maximum safety, the Bell HP3 features a pure carbon shell using autoclave technology, combined with a specific expanded polystyrene energy absorbing liner. Test show that in certain impacts, the Bell HP3 absorbs up to 40 per cent more energy than is required.
The radical and innovative aerodynamic design includes a front chin spoiler (duck bill), and a very effective ventilation on both the chin bar and the top area.
It also features Bell's now famous double screen anti-fog visor with SV mechanism for improved comfort and safety.
Depending of the fit pad size and the mounted accessories such as spoilers, the Bell RS HP 3 weighs only 1290 grams (+/- 5%), making it the lightest and the safest helmet actually available in the world for automobile racing.
The Bell HP3 can be equipped with various detachable spoilers and air intakes.
